I clicked one to look back at the 3 fields, made no changes, clicked "Done" and got an error about Overlapping Rules. So if I manually generate 30 rules for "Test" folder I would forever be clicking each of these to find a specific rule.Ħ - last is a bug after having created the 2 "Test" rules. Without clicking on each "Test" folder I have no idea what the filter rule is. This generates a 2nd "Test" folder in Declutter's main window (which I still do not know where it will end up). I routinely have 30-40 similar named files for a big project and Hazel lets me filter them all with one rule and wildcards.ĥ - okay, I'll setup a 2nd rule with a 2nd file to complete my testing. So I guess for each individual file I've got to create a separate filter. None on the - second field is for file name and I expect to use some wildcards as Hazel supports. In fact I don't know where the folder will even be located.Ģ - so I go to HELP and pick "Help OrganizeDesk" and there is no help. I downloaded and tested and find several features missing and other oddities that make me uncomfortable with this app.ġ - on the window to setup a filter when you click to enter the Folder Name there is no "Browse" or "Select" method of entering the path. It is also more expensive, so users really have to check their needs / best process.ĭeclutter is a young app at v 1.05 but should not yet have been released. Hazel is much more capable, moving files located not just on the desktop but in any other location, and moving these to any folder (not just on the desktop). It is actually limited: the same folder icon is re-used, with a "watermark" added in the center, chosen by the user among a limited set of icons. One key feature that is presented is the folder icon customisation. This means that if someone really wants to have a proper classification and declutter its desktop, he could end up with dozens of folders on the desktop.Īlso, apps provided with macOS (Terminal, Automator) let the user performs the same tasks for free (although it requires some more work). While the goal is to declutter the desktop, the app can only create folders on the dekstop, not elsewhere (with aliases to the desktop), and cannot create subfolders. While the concept could be interesting for many people and better than nothing, the app suffers in my opinion of various limitations and missing features that question its usefulness.
